They have different patterns of tissue-specific expression and physiologic roles. Some CAs may serve as markers for tumours and hypoxia. CA XIV is a polypeptide consisting of an extracellular N-terminal catalytic domain, a membrane-spanning segment and a short intracellular C- terminal segment with several potential phosphorylation sites. A subset of CAs lack CA activity due to point mutations but retain esterase function. CA14 is widely expressed in the central nervous system.

NHP2L1 proteinis limited to the nucleus, primarily focused in the dense fibrillar component of the nucleolus. NHP2L1 has been shown to interact with RAD17and PRPF31. The protein undergoes a conformational change upon RNA-binding. NHP2L1 binds to the 5-stem-loop of U4 snRNA and may play a role in the late stage of spliceosome assembly, prior to step I of splicing catalysis.

Removal of LIF pushes stem cells toward differentiation, but they retain their proliferative potential or pluripotency. Therefore LIF is used in mouse embryonic stem cell culture. It is necessary to maintain the stem cells in an undifferentiated state, however genetic manipulation of embryonic stem cells allows for LIF independent growth, notably overexpression of the gene Nanog. LIF is not required for culture of human embryonic stem cells.

ApoD plays a role in maintenance and repair within the central and peripheral nervous systems. ApoD occurs in the macromolecular complex with lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase. It is a multi-ligand, multi-functional transporter and transports a ligand from 1 cell to another. Beskrivelse: IL-2R is a heterotrimeric protein binds and responds to the cytokine IL-2. Three distinct chains of IL-2R, termed as α, β and γ, which are non-covalently associated are identified. The α and β chains are involved in binding IL-2, while signal transduction following cytokine interaction is carried out by the γ chain, along with the β subunit. The γ chain of the IL-2R can bind to the β chain before receptor interaction with IL-2. The γ chain alone has a very weak affinity for IL-2, but after the ligand is bound to the α/β heterodimer, the γ chain becomes recruited to the complex to form a very stable macromolecular quaternary ligand/receptor complex.
Interleukin-2 receptor subunit gamma (IL2RG), also known as cytokine receptor common subunit gamma, CD antigen CD132, gammaC, p64, which belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family or type 5 subfamily. IL2RG is located on the surface of immature blood-forming cells in bone marrow.
