Phywe's variable g-pendulum can change the plane of oscillation from the vertical, a=0°, up to the horizontal plane, ie a=90°. When a=0°, g acts at full force. If the plane of oscillation is not parallel to the vertical, only g × cos a acts on the pendulum motion.
